Amit is in charge of developing and deploying the Directorate's domestic and international legal policy, and manages the INCD legal department. This includes legal counsel for policy, regulation and operations. Amit has been active in law, technology and policy issues within government since 2002, including Copyright law, Data Protection and Privacy, Electronic signatures, E-government, and Cybersecurity, and has represented the Israeli government in the Israeli Knesset, and in the international sphere. In 2019 Amit represented Israel in the drafting of the OECD Recommendations on AI. Before joining the INCD in 2014 to set up its legal department, Amit was Head of the Legal Department in the Israeli Law Information and Technology Authority in the Ministry of Justice (ILITA), now renamed The Privacy Protection Authority, Israel's Data Protection Authority. In this context he was involved in international data protection issues, including the EU Adequacy finding of Israel's Data Protection regime and in the OECD. Since 2013, Amit teaches a graduate course on Law and Information Technology in the Center for Law and Technology in the Haifa University Faculty of Law.

Yonatan Geifman is the co-founder and CEO of Deci, the deep learning company dedicated to transforming the AI lifecycle. He co-founded Deci after completing his PhD in computer science at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. His research focused on making Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) more applicable for mission-critical tasks. During his studies, Yonatan was a member of Google AI’s MorphNet team. His research has been published and presented at leading conferences across the globe, including the Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS), the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML), and the International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR).

Tomer is a Computer vision and Deep learning expert at Applied-Materials, Pushing the limit of industry scale application on nano-scale images. Applied Materials is a leader in the Semiconductor industry that raised many of the Computer-Vision experts in the Israel for the last 30 years. Prior to Applies Tomer gained his experience developing industrial solutions for the consumer market, aerospace industry, automotive, Medical and Semiconductors. Specializing in object detection & segmentation, motion & change detection. Tomer holds a M.Sc. in Computer vision from the Weizmann institute

Professor Mark Shtaif is the rector of Tel Aviv University. After completing his BSc, MSc, and DSc degrees in Electrical Engineering at the Technion in 1997, he joined the research team of AT&T Labs in New Jersey as a Senior and then Principal Member of Technical staff, studying communication technologies. In 2002 he joined the Faculty of Engineering at Tel Aviv University and served as the head of the School of Electrical Engineering in 2017 – 2020.

Professor Shtaif is a communications scientist working mostly in the field of fiber optics and optical communication systems. Within this general area of activity he integrates the fields of optics, quantum theory, nonlinear systems, communications theory, information theory, and signal processing. Over the years he has contributed to a variety of topics including optical amplification, analysis of nonlinear propagation, polarization-related phenomena, analysis of noise and signal detection, quantum information in fiber systems, and fundamental limits to optical communications.

In his most notable recent work he has contributed to the analysis of polarization-dependent loss in fiber communications, to the nonlinear-noise model in fiber-optic transmission, to the theory of space-division multiplexed communications, and to effective phase reconstruction by means of the Kramers-Kronig receiver.

Amir Teicher is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of History, TAU. His main research interests are history of Western medicine, eugenics and genetics, racial science and Nazism. His recent book is Social Mendelism: Genetics and the Politics of Race in Germany, 1900-1948 (Cambridge University Press, 2020).

Matteo Valleriani is research group leader at the Department I at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, honorary professor at the Technische Universität of Berlin, and professor by Special Appointments at the University of Tel Aviv. He investigates the relation between diffusion processes of scientific, practical, and technological knowledge and their economic and political preconditions. His research focuses on the Hellenistic period, the late Middle Ages, and the early modern period. Among his principal research endeavors, he leads the project “The Sphere: Knowledge System Evolution and the Shared Scientific Identity of Europe” (https://sphaera.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de), which investigates the formation and evolution of a shared scientific identity in Europe between the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Among his publications, he has authored the book Galileo Engineer (Springer 2010), is editor of The Structures of Practical Knowledge (Springer Nature 2017), and published De sphaera of Johannes de Sacrobosco in the Early Modern Period. The Authors of the Commentaries (Springer Nature 2020)

Prior to founding NeuReality, Moshe served as Director of engineering at Marvell and Intel, leading complex Wireless and Networking products to mass production. He also served as AVP R&D at DesignArt-Networks (later acquired by Qualcomm) developing 4G base station products. He holds BSEE from the Technion, Israel, Cum Laude. Moshe runs marathons to free the mind.

Tamar Kricheli Katz is an Associate Professor at Tel-Aviv University Faculty of Law. She earned a PhD from Stanford’s Sociology Department, a JSM from Stanford Law School and an LL.B from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Kricheli-Katz teaches and researches in the fields of discrimination, inequality, empirical legal studies, contract law and law and society. Kricheli Katz has taught at UC Berkeley, Northwestern University and Stanford Law School. She is a recipient of the Alon Scholarship for outstanding junior faculty, the ISF research grant, and the NSF dissertation improvement grant. Prior to her graduate studies, Kricheli-Katz served as a law clerk and a legal advisor to Justice Theodor Or of the Israeli Supreme Court.

Paolo Pispola works at the Italian Ministry of Economic Development where he designs public policies to support SMEs, technology transfer and Foreign Direct Investment Attraction.
Mr. Pispola spent eight years in consulting firms such as IBM and Accenture, mainly in ICT projects in Italy, Europe and Middle East, with a focus on energy and manufacturing industries. Then Paolo worked for public and private bodies in the
fields of industrial cooperation, innovation policies, FDI attraction and export promotion.

Saharon Rosset is a Professor in the Department of Statistics and Operations Research in Tel Aviv University. His research interests are in statistical and machine learning, statistical genetics, and modern statistical methods.

He is a five time winner of major international data modeling competitions (KDD-Cup, INFORMS data mining challenge), with two best paper awards in KDD conferences. In 2018 his paper “From fixed-X to random-X regression: Bias-variance decompositions, covariance penalties, and prediction error estimation” with Ryan Tibshirani was selected for discussion by the Journal of the American Statistical Association.

Yaniv Assaf is a Professor of Neuroscience at the school of neurobiology, biochemistry and biophysics at the faculty of life-sciences and the Sagol school of neuroscience of Tel Aviv University.

Prof. Assaf, a biophysicist and neuroscientist, has focused his career in neuroimaging and brain mapping for over 25 years. Over this period, he has published over 100 papers in the field in leading journals such as Science, Neuron, PNAS, Nature Neuroscience and Brain. In his research, Prof. Assaf focuses on developing brain mapping techniques to explore brain microstructure.

In 2017, Prof. Assaf, together with Assi Horowitz founded BrainVivo – a startup company that uses functional and micro-structural brain MRI of human subjects to create a real-brain inspired AI platform that will enable to digitize human perception and judgement (www.brainvivo.com).

Professor Alma Cohen is the Head of the Berglas School of Economics at Tel-Aviv University. She also serves as Professor of Empirical Practice at Harvard Law School, Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Research Fellow of the Center for Economic Performance, and Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute. Professor Cohen is an applied empirical economist, who has done work on a wide range of topics in the areas of law and economics, regulation, public economics, corporate governance, and risk and insurance. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the Harvard Economics Department, as well as a B.A. in Mathematics and an M.SC in Management and Operations Research from Tel-Aviv University

Professor Emeritus Paul Feigin joined the Technion in 1976. He completed his Ph.D from the Australian National University in 1975.

Professor Feigin is a statistician who has contributed to theory and application of data analysis in a variety of fields. His research covers areas such as inference for stochastic processes, nonparametric statistics, statistical analysis of genetic data, and analysis of customer patience in call centers. He applies modern methods of forecasting and data-mining (now called Machine Learning) as well as design and analysis methods used in clinical trials. He is an elected fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and of the International Statistical Institute.

Alongside his academic activities he has earned extensive experience in consulting for medical companies such as Teva Pharmaceuticals and MeMed. For over a decade he served as the scientific director of TechnoSTAT, a statistical consulting company. Together with the late Prof. Ayala Cohen, he established the Technion Statistical Laboratory which he has returned to lead.

Professor Feigin served as the Technion’s Senior Executive Vice President (2007 – 2013), the Technion Vice President for Strategic Projects (2013 – 2016) and as the Assistant to the Technion President for Strategic Projects (2016-2018). He earlier served as Dean of The William Davidson Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management (1999–2002).

He was recently appointed as the Director of the Israel Data Science Initiative (IDSI), an umbrella body established to coordinate the activities of the seven university Data Science Research Centers as well as to advance the field of data science through interfacing with government, industry and international organizations.
