The main fields of research of Leo Corry are the history of mathematics, computing and physics from 1870 on, and the development of the Euclidean tradition in Medieval and Renaissance Europe. He has also been involved in developing and promoting computer-based methods of research in the humanities. He was Dean of Humanities at TAU, 2015-2020.

Prof. Yishay Mansour got his PhD from MIT in 1990, following it he was
a postdoctoral fellow in Harvard and a Research Staff Member in IBM T.
J. Watson Research Center. Since 1992 he is at Tel-Aviv University,
where he is currently a Professor of Computer Science and has serves
as the first head of the Blavatnik School of Computer Science during
2000-2002. He was the founder and first director of the Israeli Center of Research
Excellence in Algorithms.

Prof. Mansour held positions with IBM Research, Bell Labs, AT&T
research Labs, and MicroSoft Research and is currently associated with Google Research. He has mentored start-ups Riverhead, which was acquired by Cisco, Ghoonet and Verix.

Prof. Mansour has published over 100 journal papers and over 200
proceeding papers in various areas of computer science with special
emphasis on machine learning, algorithmic game theory, communication
networks, and theoretical computer science and has supervised over a
dozen graduate students in those areas.

Prof. Mansour was named an ACM fellow in 2014, and in 2019 received the 30-years Test of Time Award of Foundations of Computer Science (FOCS). He is currently an associate editor in a number of distinguished journals and has been on numerous conference program committees. He was both the program chair of COLT (1998) and the STOC (2016), served twice on the COLT
steering committee, and is on the ALT steering committee.

Dr. Ido Tavor studies the connection between brain structure, function and human behavior, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). He investigates what underlies behavioral and functional differences between individuals, such as changes in functional and structural connectivity and differences in the brain’s microstructure. In addition, Dr. Tavor's lab studies learning-related brain plasticity by developing behavioral tasks that induce functional and structural brain modifications. For their work, they use advanced mathematical and statistical analysis methods.

Dr. Tavor completed his Ph.D. in Neurobiology under the guidance of Prof. Yaniv Assaf in Tel Aviv University. He then proceeded to a postdoctoral fellowship at the Oxford Centre for Functional MRI of the Brain (FMRIB) at the University of Oxford. There, working with Prof. Saad Jbabdi he studied individual variability in brain function and connectivity. In 2017, Ido joined Tel Aviv University as a senior lecturer at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine and the Sagol School of Neuroscience.

Dr. Oren Danieli is an assistant professor at the Berglas School of Economics, Tel-Aviv University. His research focuses on developing new empirical methods to study income inequality and intergenerational mobility.  Some of his recent work includes developing a new method to design the optimal policy experiment using a wide data set from extensive interviews with 1,000 people that grew up in poverty; using machine-learning methods to identify high quality teachers; and decomposing wage polarization. He holds a PhD in business economics from Harvard University and an MA in Economics and BSc in mathematics from Tel-Aviv University.

Dan Zeltzer an assistant professor of Economics at Tel Aviv University. He received his PhD from Princeton University in 2016. An applied health economist, his research spans various contemporary aspects of healthcare delivery, including physician referral networks, medical technology adoption, the use of machine learning for predictive modeling in healthcare, and telemedicine.
 

Carsten Marr received his diploma in general physics from the Technische Universität München in 2002. He wrote his diploma thesis at the Max-Planck-Institute for Quantum Optics (Garching, Germany) and visited the Quantum Information and Quantum Optics Theory Group at Imperial College (London, UK) in 2003. In 2004, he received a PhD fellowship from the Technische Universität Darmstadt and joined the Bioinformatics Group there, working on dynamical processes on graphs and biological networks. He visited the Center for Complex Systems and Brain Sciences (Florida Atlantic University, USA) and Jacobs University Bremen (Germany) during his PhD. He received his PhD from Technische Universität Darmstadt in June 2007 and joined Jacobs University Bremen as a postdoctoral fellow, focusing on gene regulatory networks. In 2008 he joined the Helmholtz Zentrum München as a PostDoc in the Institute for Bioinformatics and Systems Biology working on the quantification, analysis, and modelling of stem cell data. In 2011, he worked on pluripotency and stochastic descriptions of gene expression at the University of Edinburgh with a stipend from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG. Since 2013, he is deputy director and group leader at the Institute of Computational Biology. In 2017, he received the Erwin-Schrödinger Prize and the CSB2 Prize in Systems Biology for his interdisciplinary contributions to the quantification of single blood stem cells. In 2019, he received an ERC Consolidator Grant for establishing Computational Hematopathology.

Prof. Michael Birnhack is Associate Dean for Research at the Faculty of Law, Tel Aviv University. He is also the director of the Parasol International LL.M program and the Director of the S. Horowitz Institute for IP at TAU Law. His research focuses on information law. His privacy-related studies included topics of data protection, school surveillance, medical big data, biometrics, and Israeli privacy law. Birnhack was a member of the Public Council for the Protection of Privacy (three terms); of expert committees on privacy in the public and civil sectors. His book on privacy won the 2010 book prize of the Israeli Political Scientists Association.

Aviv is a Computer Science PhD student at Tel Aviv University, advised by Prof. Yishay Mansour. Prior to that, he received his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at Tel Aviv University. His research revolves around the theoretical foundations of sequential decision making, and lies in the intersection between reinforcement learning, online learning and optimization.

Moni Shahar (PhD) holds first degrees in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, and holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University. In the last 25 years he has held a variety of algorithmic leadership positions in the high-tech industry. His work spans a variety of areas including machine vision, NLP, algorithmic finance, machine learning and applied physics. In parallel to his industrial job, he teaches in the Department of Statistics and has published over 20 scientific papers.

Avi is CTO and Co-Founder of Hailo. Prior to this, he served as Texas Instruments’ CTO for Wireless Connectivity, working with the company for over a decade. In this role, he established the connected-MCU product line for IoT and IIoT markets and defined the technological roadmap for products in the IoT ecosystem. He also served as a Technical Team Leader in the Israel Defense Forces’ elite technology unit. Avi holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.

Prof. Tom Schonberg received his PhD from Tel Aviv University in 2010. Since October 2014 he is leading a research laboratory in the department of Neurobiology and the Sagol School of Neuroscience at Tel Aviv University. Among other funding agencies in 2016 he won the ERC StG grant for 1.5M Euros.
Tom Schonberg’s laboratory is focused on the study of the neural basis of behavior change and interested in the process of value construction and value generalization, how values can be perturbed and changed and how these processes are manifested in the human brain. The lab studies the multiple components of this process by designing novel behavioral paradigms and using converging research tools to analyze them including structural and functional MRI, eye tracking and computational decision-making models to better understand human mental function and its underlying neural substrates. His laboratory is committed to open and reproducible science.

Jonathan Ben-Dov teaches the Hebrew Bible, Ancient Near East, and Second Temple Judaism at the Department of Bible, Tel Aviv University. His research interest include apocalyptic literature, the history of the biblical text, calendars and astronomy in Antiquity, the Dead Sea Scrolls and digital humanities. He has published numerous editions and re-editions of fragmentary Dead Sea Scrolls using new methods. He is co-director of the German-Israeli project Scripta Qumranica Electronica.

Established and directed the Big Data and AI Hub at ARC, the Innovation Center, Sheba Medical Center | 2017-2020. In this role she founded the Sagol Center innovation center for digital health at Sheba on It’s strategy, multidisciplinary approach and governance. Nathalie was part of a leading team that established Entrepreneurship Practicum Track for Medical Residents in the Israeli Association Physicians | 2019 - present.
